 Dogs needing homes

Adoption Fee

When you adopt a dog from us we do have an adoption fee.

*Adult dog adoption fee will range between £90 and £120*

*Puppy adoption fee £120*

This adoption fee does include all listed below.

We have put the prices by each treatment of what it would cost if you were to take the dogs to the vets yourselves and as you can see the adoption fees don't come anywhere near as much!

  • Vaccinations   £40.00
  • Neutering Dogs £94.00    Bitches £121.00
  • Microchipping    £15.00 - £25.00
  • Flea Treatment  £5.00
  • Worming   £3.00
  • Life Long support Priceless!

On reserving an animal we will need a deposit of £20 per dog

We always do a homecheck on every dog, which is adopted from the rescue, We need to make sure the garden is secure, and the home is suitable for a dog, and that you don't live next to a busy main road, where the dog may be injured.

The adoption process shouldn't take much more than a week to be completed, homecheck included, (this may vary by location).

If a dog has the word Fostering on their Profile , please see 'Fostering an animal' page for more details.

Lurchers
If you can't see many Lurchers on our website, this is because 'The Lurcher Rescue' in Shropshire has taken them to find homes.  If you are looking for a Lurcher please call 01743 872395 for more details. We would like to thank the lurcher Rescue for helping us out with this matter.

For more information about these dogs please call 01745 560546 or email: animalrescue@btconnect.com

Alice Reserved

Hello everyone I'm Alice. I'm a little black and tan yorkie. When I first came to the rescue I was a bit nervous and confused however now I'm full of life and happy. I think I'm about 3 years old but I'm not really sure. Although I'm only little I still need regular walks.

I'm only at Level 1 with my training but I have only just started. I will get better.

Arnie Foster Me (currently in Foster home)

  • Terrier X
  • Nine years old
  • Male
  • Size medium
  • Requires moderate grooming
  • High energy levels

Arnie is a very sweet looking dog with a soft curly coat like little a little lamb!He is smashing company for young and old and a real bundle of fun. He really enjoys a cuddle and scratch, especially under his collar and will march his legs in pleasure! He loves to chase a ball but needs work on returning it! This cute little dog looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth but has a BAD attitude when in canine company! He will need to be kept on the lead when out and about, but don't let this put you off because he has so many positive attributes as well! He has a sharp terrier mind which is inquisitive and intelligent and requires stimulation. He would enjoy further training as this would keep his brain busy.  It should be said that Arnie loves treats and this is a real advantage when it comes to training. He would like to go to a home with a decent sized garden so that he can run around and burn off some of his energy. He is fine with children but walk time should be controlled by an adult so that he doesn't get into arguments with other dogs. Arnie deserves a special home where he can be given lots of love.

    Archie

My name is Archie. I am a doberman x rottweiller. My previous owners were unable to keep me as i was kept in the back garden and the neighbours complained about my barking and jumping up.

I am a very nice dog with lots of youthful energy and enthusiasm and I need a lot of exercise to keep me happy.

I am a friendly dog once i know you and a fun dog who walks well on the lead and I am keen to please. I'm an intelligent dog who needs stimulation and attention to keep my brain active. I am affectionate and enjoy human company especially when I am playing fetch in the paddock.

I have been a little unsure of the other dogs here at the Rescue I have not been able to mix with another dog. I will make a great companion for the person who can respect my needs and provide me with a bit of TLC.

Baxter

Hi, I am a large, young, amiable, huggable, gregarious hound who needs loads of love and exercise.

I enjoy socialising with other dogs would be happy in a lively home. Training me further would be easy as I am very bright.

I still have some growing to do and need lots of space.

Bo

Hello I go by the name of Bo, I have a brother here as well. He is called Luke. We are not quite 1 year old yet and love our training sessions with Lyn. I am top of my class, my trainer says I'm very clever. I'm not sure what breed I am so why not come see for yourself and take me for a walk.

Bouncer

Hello My Name is bouncer. I am a Lancashire Heeler and very proud of it! I am very active and need lots of walks. I love playing fetch in the paddock. I don't get along too well with other dogs and cats so I need to be an only dog. I'm wary of children too so ideally I would be in a  home without young children. Thank you for looking at me.

·          Size : Small/Medium

·          Grooming : Minimal

·          Energy Levels : Moderate

Description

Bullseye is a stunning dog who unfortunately has been returned to the rescue, he interacts with adults quite well and is generally tolerant and affectionate.

Unfortunately he does not mix well with other dogs - as is often the case with this breed, he will need a home without any other animals, his previous owner has explained how he can be a little possessive over food, however with a calm firm owner who can lead him and set rules and direction, Bullseye has all the potential to respond well and adapt to instruction.

Ultimately, Bullseye needs to be in a calm environment without children, with a patient, understanding owner he will settle and develop into a great dog.

Floyd

·          Cross Breed

·          Approx 4 Years old

·          Male

·          Size : Small

·          Grooming : Minimal

·          Energy Levels : Moderate

·          Re-home

Description

Floyd was signed over to the rescue because his owners could no longer look after him, when he first arrived at the rescue he was nervous and a little scared of his new environment,  however he has gradually began to gain trust and is building in confidence day by day.

Floyd is looking for an owner who will input time into consistent exercise and mental stimulation, he is only young so this will be important, Floyd loves a good game of football so this could be a great way of stimulating and exercising this little guy.

Floyd will need to be in a calm environment without young children or cats, with the right owner, understanding and correct input, Floyd will make a lovely dog.

Flyn

·          Energy Levels : Medium/High

·          Stray

Description

Flyn is a friendly, full of energy and enthusiastic dog, which on initial meeting can come across as high excitement and due to his build can be a little forceful.

Ultimately he needs an owner who has the time to input and commit to a consistent level of exercise in addition to structured and consistent training.

Flyn would be better suited to a home without children or with older children who have an appreciation of his needs.

Flyn needs a calm stable environment and an owner who can provide him with the respect and constant leadership he requires.

Fred

·         Cross Breed

·         One year old

·         Male

·         Size medium

·         Requires minimal grooming

·         High energy levels

Fred is a smart looking Collie with a curly tail that curves right back on its self! He is extremely high energy and not suited to a life in captivity.

Like many other Collies, Fred is an intelligent but sensitive dog and he will need time and consistency to overcome his problems. Fred is a very reactive dog and has been returned to us twice now for biting his adopter.

We are looking for a home for Fred where there is an experienced dog handler who will understand his tendencies and help him to overcome them. He is still a very young dog and with the right owner will make a fantastic companion.

He is very affectionate and has a super personality and we really hope that he can overcome his problems. Fred is a dog with lots of promise and we hope he will find a new home soon and become someone's new and dearest friend.

Holly

Hello, I'm the prettiest girl at the rescue, will at least I think I am. My name is Holly and I think I'm about 4 however, like most girls I don't look my age. I have to start my training soon as I don't have too many lead manners but I'm a bright girl and will soon learn. I have lived with another dog without any problems so why not pop along to the rescue and say Hi.

Hooch

I am an 8 month old Mastiff cross. I have a brother caller Turner and I would love to find a home where we could both live together. I am very well bahaved on my lead and will need plenty of exercise. I love to run off lead in the paddock and play football however, I also like to have some space to chill. I am a big lad now and still have some growing to do.

Jack/Tonto

  • Breed: Jack Russell terrier
  • Age: Approx 2 years old
  • Sex: Male
  • Size: Small
  • Grooming: Minimal
  • Energy Levels: Moderate
  • Stray / Re-home

Description

Tonto is a typical Jack Russell with bags of character. He is a typical terrier- bold, full of enthusiasm and he adores his walks. He can be a little wilful at times so it will be important for any potential owner to establish some ground rules for Tonto in order to prevent any unwanted behaviour.

Ultimately, Tonto needs an owner who is calm, firm and consistant. With the correct input Tonto has the potential to be a cheerful loyal companion.

Additional Information

   Jake Foster Me

  • Cross Breed
  • Three years old
  • Male
  • Size small
  • Moderate grooming required
  • High energy levels

Jake is a terrier who has lots of energy, he will be a good dog to train to work. Jake likes to have something to do all the time which is why he would be well suited to having a purpose.

He can be moody at times as he gets bored and frustrated being in the kennel. He can act as if he is a miniature Rottweiler sometimes! Jake cannot be in a home with children and does not get on with other dogs .

He will need an owner who will understand his temperament and will be confident in controlling and training him. He will need to be on the go all day long to keep him happy.

He is no lap dog but is sure to show affection for the person who takes him on and is able to give him the lifestyle which he needs to make him happy. He will need to be the only pet in the home as he likes to have lots of attention and to prevent any squabbles that might occur.

Jake has lots to offer the right person and needs to be out of the kennels and in a home where he can be himself.

Jonah

  • German Shepherd
  • 6-7 years old approx
  • Male
  • Large size
  • Requires regular grooming
  • Origin - taken from previous owne

Jonah came to us with another German Shepherd (Moby - still with us at the time of writing). Like Moby, Jonah will need some time to adjust to any potential new owner. His initial reaction to strange faces can be aggressive - loud, determined barking - and this was his initial behaviour towards all of the staff here at the rescue; he may also be intimidated by head-on confrontations (people approaching head-on or staring him down) and guard or protect accordingly. However, this has not been consistent behaviour and can depend on the handler. Over time, however, he has come to trust more and more of the staff and settled into being friendly and playful once trust is achieved. He will run around the rescue's enclosed field with great gusto, chase any thrown toys and climb on the a-frame (albeit tentatively). He is also tidy in his pen suggesting he could be house-trained. He has been nose-to-nose (either side of fencing) with a number of other dogs without any reaction and yet also showed aggressive behaviour towards another male Shepherd (Lucifer) when housed next to eachother - indicating Jonah's willingness to mix could depend on the other dog's temperament. Due to Jonah's temperament, we would advise Jonah be homed where there are no children and ideally with someone who has experience of this large breed and who is willing and able to put in the time to gain his trust - he can make someone a fabulous companion.

Kimberly

·         Cross Breed

·         Three years old

·         Female

·         Size Medium

·         Requires minimal grooming

·         High energy levels

Kimberly is a very sweet dog. Sadly she has recently been returned to us due to personal problems and through no fault of her own. Kimberly is a pretty little girl with a shiny jet black coat.

She is enthusiastic and friendly and enjoys a mad run about off the lead. Unfortunately Kimberly is terrified of other dogs. Her heckles go up and she will bark at them. We hope to do some work with Kimberly to try and improve this behaviour as she is surrounded by dogs here and it is clearly distressing for her.

When away from the Rescue, she relaxes and is really good fun to be around. She likes to do a spot of sunbathing and enjoys chewy toys ( and slippers apparently!) Kimberly is a bit of an escape artist and is prone to dashing out of the front door when it is opened so her new adopters will have to be cautious about this.

Although she is good with children, she would probably be suited to a home with older ones that she wont knock over when she is having one of her mad five minutes! Kimberly really deserves to find a home that she can call her own. She is a lovely dog and we hope that someone will fall for her soon and reserve her.

Lettie

Hello everyone my name Lettie. I am a very happy girl with a constant smile on my face. I'm still young but passed puppy stage. I'm a very affectionate lady and love lots of attention. I love my training sessions and I want to learn. Please come and say hello and take me for a stroll sometime.

Lucy lou

Hi Guys I'm Lucy Lou. I love learning new things and pleasing my trainer, Lyn. I am very affectionate, and a tad over weight, so I need plenty of exercise. I know I look young but I'm middle-aged. I have a lovely shiny coat and really enjoy my treats.

Luke

Hi I'm Luke have you seen my sister Bo? I have just been to the beach for the first time! It was great fun! I haven't had my first birthday yet and I'm not really sure what breed I am however I am good fun and I have just started my training with Lyn (she's the teacher here) and I am already at level 1! Why don't you come and play with me at the rescue sometime soon?

Max

  • Breed: Rottweiller
  • Age: Approx 3 - 5 years old
  • Sex: Male
  • Size: Large
  • Grooming: Minimal
  • Energy Levels: High
  • Stray / Re-home

Description

This handsome rotti came to the rescue as a stray. He is an affectionate dog and responds well to general interaction. Max is strong and intelligent; he will need an owner who can give him the respect that he deserves and thoughtful care and attention.

Ultimately, Max isn't suited to the first time dog owner; he needs an experienced handler who can devote time and attention to him. Max will need a high level of exercise and good control. With this in place he will make a fantastic, loyal dog.

Mindy

  • Breed: Cross breed
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Female
  • Size: Medium
  • Grooming: Minimal
  • Energy Levels: High
  • Stray / Re-home

Description

Initially Mindy was quite nervy and unsure of the kennel environment. As she gains confidence she becomes increasingly affectionate and friendly. Out of her kennel Mindy comes to life and is full of energy and bounce. She is a young dog and is going to need quite a high level of exercise. She enjoys a good run and particularly enjoys chasing a ball.

Mindy is quite a strong girl and her lead adaptability needs a little work. However, she is responsive and should take quite readily to direct training. Ultimately any potential owner for Mindy needs to be in a position to give her the understanding, commitment and guidance a dog of this age and breed needs in order to fulfil her potential.

Oscar

Hello there! I am Oscar and I am very big for a rottie but that does not change a thing. I still want to play a good game of footy in the field. I do not mix with other dogs that well, but that's all. However I am not to good with children. I need my new owner to respect my need for space.  I love to know that I can get hugs when I need them. I also love a couple of treats now and then. Hope you come and see me some time.

 Description

Pearl is a fantastic, buxom staffie x with bags of character. Unfortunately, Pearl was returned to the rescue reluctantly because her owners could no longer look after her, she had a tendency to escape from the garden and did not mix well with the cat.

However Pearl's positives far out weigh any negatives, she is extremely affectionate and enjoys human interaction very much. She gets on well with certain dogs i.e dogs that are calm and do not show elevation in energy, (which Pearl can read as threatening).

Her previous owner explained how she loves swimming and is fantastic in the car with some basic targeted training, patience and understanding; Pearl will make a great companion.

Rafa/Homer

  • Cross Breed
  • Male
  • Moderate grooming required
  • High energy levels

Rafa is a gorgeous looking little dog with a chequered past! For a majority of the time he is a sweet affectionate dog but he can be very difficult and has bitten.

Because of this he has been returned to us twice now as his adopters have not been able to cope. We are looking for someone who is an experienced and savvy dog person to take him on and continue with his training.

Rafa cannot be in a home with children or where children visit but he is good with other dogs and has lived with them successfully. The root of his problems seems to be that he is dominant and territorial in the home and yet insecure and defensive when around people he doesn't know.

He will need a lot of care and consistency to overcome his problems but when he is behaving himself, Rafa is a joy to have around. He is house trained, knows his basic commands and is good on the lead. He enjoys a cuddle and likes to chase a ball up in our paddock.

With the right person, Rafa will make a great pet but he needs to know who is Top Dog in his pack and it is not allowed to be him! He is such a cute little dog and deserves another chance - we hope that someone special will come along soon and take him under their wing.

"Reggae" Reggie

Hi guys want to play flyball? I do..... will you train me? I'm reggie and I simply cannot get enough of playing in the paddock. I think I would be brilliant at agility or flyball and now I'm past puppy stage I will learn quicker. I need lots of work to keep me mentally challenged, come along and play with me.

Ross reserved

Hello I'm Ross. I have worked all my life and I'm now looking for a retirement home. I am very obedient and walk well to heel. I still love to walk everyday and to please my trainer. I'm very clean and I can still learn new tricks.

Sammy reserved

Hi guys I'm Sammy, my sister daisy duke is here as well. I am a proper puppy. I go to lessons with my sister and if you want me you must keep up my lessons. My trainer says I'm the smartest lad in the class ( I'm the only lad as well.oh dear). I'm ready to find a home now and everyone seems to think I'm going to be the same size as a labrador when I grow up.

Scooby

  • Breed: Black Labrador
  • Age: Approx 6 years old
  • Sex: Male
  • Size: Medium
  • Grooming: Minimal
  • Energy Levels: High
  • Stray / Re-home

Description

This black lab came to us as his previous owners were unable to give him the time he so dearly needs. This boy is one of our more established residents and he is in desperate need of a loving home.

Scooby is nervous of new faces and can be a little unpredictable on first meetings. Any potential owner will need to visit Scooby a few times to establish a relationship and allow him to feel at ease.

Once Scooby is comfortable with a new face his affectionate nature shines through. Scooby needs a patient, calm owner who can lay down some simple ground rules for him to follow.

Scooby is a lovely dog, he just needs the trust and security to enable him to reach his full potential.

Sherry

  • Breed: Labrador Cross
  • Age: Approx 1-3 years old
  • Sex: Female
  • Size: Medium
  • Grooming: Minimal
  • Energy Levels: Moderate/high
  • Stray / Re-home

Description

When first meeting Sherry she is slightly nervy, a little unsure of new face and takes time to settle. Ultimately, Sherry needs a calm owner who will give her the time, space and security she needs to adjust and adapt to a new home.

She will need a moderate level of exercise and mental stimulation, some basic rules and boundaries establishing and careful guidance. Because of her slightly insecure nature she needs to be in a home without young children.

With intelligent, thoughtful care and attention Sherry has all the potential to be a great dog.

Spencer

Hello folks I'm a happy go lucky chap who goes by the name of Spencer. The staff here say I'm middle aged and a Staffie cross. Like a lot of Staffie's I'm best as an only dog without young children around me. I'm quite obedient and love my time off lead in the paddock.

Stanley.

My name is Stanley. I am a Staffordshire bull terrier. I am very friendly now but when I first came to the rescue I was very scared. I enjoy long walks and I need them to keep my energy levels to a minimum. I also love being free to run around in the paddock. I would prefer to live in a home without young children as older children and adults can respect my needs for quiet when I am tired after a nice long walk. I would also like to live in a home without other animals.

Strider

·          Cross Breed

·          Approx 3 Years Old

·          Male

·          Size : Medium

·          Grooming : Minimal

·          Energy Levels : Moderate/High

·          Re-home

Description

Strider is a dog who enjoys lots of affection, he needs an owner who is willing to input the time into upping his exercise level and keeping it consistent.

Strider is quite a strong boy and hi lead adaptability needs  some work.

Strider needs to be in a home without other dogs or cats and without children or with older children.

He is a great dog with lots to give, all he needs now is the right owner to bring his character forward

Tai

Hi I'm Tai and my trainer says I'm her favourite. I'm very active and love to please. I pull on my lead but Lyn (my trainer) says if you adopt me she will show you how to walk me properly. I can do tricks come up and see. I love to show off. So come up and see me and I will show you.

Tank

Hello everyone I'm Tank and I'm the new favourite of the kennel staff. I'm full of fun and character. My tail never stops wagging. I'm not too good on my lead yet as I do pull a little however I love learning new things so we can sort that out. I'm not yet 2 years old. Come up to the rescue and ask for me and watch the staff smile when you say my name.

Tessa

I'm a lovely little old lady called Tessa. I enjoy trotting gently by your side. I would adore a home where I can sit on your knee and have lots of TLC while we watch telly ( my favourite programme is the Dog Whisperer.) Don't be mislead now I can still walk a mile or two.

Tim

·          Border Terrier

·          Approx. 1 - 2 yrs

·          Male

·          Small Size

·          Moderate Grooming Requirement

·          Moderate / High Energy Levels

·          Stray / Re-home

Description

Unfortunately, he has recently been returned to the rescue as his owners could no longer look after him.

As with most Border Terriers, Tim is very intelligent and full of life. He is a very affectionate dog and according to his previous owner, enjoys a good fuss!

Tim will need a relatively high level of exercise and mental stimulation to keep him happy. Above all, he needs a calm, consistent leader who can establish some boundaries and rules within the home; this will be vital to prevent any unwanted behaviour.

Due to his terrier ?high-chase' instinct, Tim needs to be in a home without any other pets and with no young children so that his needs can be respected.

Toby

·          Rottweiler

·          Approx 2 Years Old

·          Male

·          Size : Large

·          Grooming : Minimal

·          Energy Levels : High/Demanding

·          Re-home

Description

Toby is a truly a beautiful young dog with everything going for him, he was signed over to the rescue through no fault of his own, He is a highly affectionate dog who adores fuss, his previous owner has explained how fantastic he is in the house.

Toby exhibits all the characteristics of a young dog, enthusiasm, boundless energy and intrigue, together with his strength and this boy is a force to be reckoned with, he needs exercise and lots of it!

Toby does pull on the lead, however due to the trainable nature of the breed he will soon respond to direction, Toby will respect authority from an owner who merits it, calm, firm and patient.

Toby's enthusiasm will need good control, set simple rules in place, input the time and be rewarded with a fabulous dog.

Toby needs to be in a home without children and isn't the dog for new/nervous owners.

Tom

I'm Tom and I'm a Patterdale terrier. The staff at the rescue think I'm between 3-4 years old. I'm excellent on my lead and in the paddock however I am a terrier and need lots of stimulation and exercise. Come up and meet me, take me for a stroll and let's see how we get on.

Turner

Hi, I am an 8 month old Mastiff cross and like my brother Hooch, I love to run and play.

The lady I lived with is poorly and can no longer give us the attention and exercise we need.

My brother is bigger than me but not as handsome. We would love to live together, however any loving home would do.

Yogi

Hi I'm Yogi and before you say how cute I look I need to say that I need an experienced Akita owner. Someone who understands my breed and my temperament. I am just over 1 ½ years old and big for my age. So if you have had one of my kind before come and say hi.
