Alfie
Alfie is a young male Staffordshire bull terrier who came to the rescue as a stray. He is full of energy and enthusiasm and just wants to go go go. He has a great character about him and typical staffie friendliness. We have yet to test him around other dogs; he does get excited when walking past them on lead. Older children would be advised as he is likely to knock little ones over.

Anna
Anna is a 3 year old small Border collie who was signed over to the rescue with her daughter Womble. Information provided by the previous owner states, she is housetrained, good with other dogs and scared of cats. Anna is very friendly with women but is very scared around men so needs a little time and patience allowing her to approach you. We are ideally looking for a home where Anna and Womble can go together as they really are a fantastic pair.

Bailey
Hi guys I'm Bailey. I am a lovely looking young man, however, I have been used to getting my own way, so I do need an experienced owner who can continue with my training. I have reached Level 3 in my obedience training. I love playing off the lead in an enclosed area. If I like you I will smile. I get on with other dogs. I am very sensitive if anyone grabs my collar, however, I am getting better.

Bruno
Staffordshire Bull Terrier, mainly black with some white, 2 years old approx, MALE
Bruno seems like quite an easy-going chap. He was a stray originally and then rehomed but then turned up as a stray again - to be left unclaimed due to reported issues with other dogs. We have yet to experience any aggression from Bruno towards other dogs as his demeanour is calm and aloof most of the time - although we have yet to test him close-up with other dogs. Typical of some Staffies, he can make some strange noises on the lead if and when he pulls - but usually he plods along quite relaxed. A dog with unusual ears, Bruno would still make a fine companion for the right owner.

Buster
Lurcher, black & white, 8 months old, MALE
Buster came to us because his owner was going to be working away. Typical of lurchery types, Buster is quite a calm quiet chap when walking and generally but he has it in him to burst into mad sprinting about. While he's been here, he's enjoyed the company of two other lurchers - with no arguments or fall-outs at all. So a pretty good guy for other dogs to be around. Buster has lived with children too (a 9 and 13 year old) and is house-trained [1]. So an altogether fine dog waiting for his next great place to live.

Cesay
Cesay is a 5 year old male Staffordshire bull terrier who came to the rescue as a stray. He is very sweet natured, walks well on the lead and welcomes affection. Cesays previous owner was contacted and advised that he is good with other dogs which we will test further before homing. He has beautiful grey brindle colouring which adds to his appeal. A fantastic dog who will make an excellent companion.

Clive
Cross breed, brown & white, elderly, MALE
Clive is a placid easy-going chap now at the less energetic time of his life. He likes to plod around foraging and admiring the scenery not particularly perturbed or unsettled by anything ... other than going back into the kennels (not surprising really). He's probably looking for a fairly relaxed home to while away his days, perhaps gaze out of windows or lie on a sofa.

Dan
Dan is a very likeable chunky male Staffie. Solidly built, Dan is around 18 months old. Some of the time, he is a tad wary of people and may not appreciate people getting too friendly too soon. So he needs some time and space to adjust and we don't think he'd take kindly to young children getting excited around him. Spending time with him, you can see he has a very playful and bubbly side and relishes a fuss. He also tolerates the other dogs here very well.

Elvis#
Staffie, black & white, 2-4 years old, MALE
Elvis is a whirlwind of a dog. The challenge for anyone taking him on will be to burn off the tanker of energy he has. He loves fuss from people but he's a tough cookie who needs an occupation or his attention can be quickly diverted. With other dogs, he's sometimes indifferent and sometimes very vocal so it's difficult to know how he would react close-up. He has obviously been encouraged or played with in a way that has left him now wanting to grab at things with great determination. Elvis has a special kind of appeal whose main priority for any owner will be to keep him from getting bored and to keep his strong character in check.

Eric is a very handsome one year old Shar Pei cross English Bull Terrier. He has huge appeal and will make a fine companion. Being the youngster he is training and socialisation are a must so he grows into a well mannered adult. He does get excited around other dogs and we have yet to try him off lead. He loves to run around our paddock and play with toys. A great guy looking for a great new home.

Frazer+
Frazer is a youngish male Staffie. Impressions are that he will need to be kept stimulated with play and exercise as he seems to have a restless mind on him. He used to have a taste for the lead but we have worked with him to put him off this bad habit and he has made such progress that now just an appropriate command or sharp noise is sufficient to persuade him to lose interest. He loves fuss and company and has become particularly attached to some of our regular volunteers - who he can spot from a distance and is then eager to get to : )

George+
George is a male Border Collie and around 4 years old. He's typical of the breed in that he craves something to occupy and stimulate him - and plenty of exercise too - otherwise he may get a tad frustrated. One of his hobbies is to fetch footballs or tennis balls and drop them about 10ft away from you to throw again - waiting or lying down focused entirely on you and the ball. He'll even bring them a bit closer until you take the hint. An intelligent and affectionate dog.

Gizzie is a 3-4 year old English Bull Terrier cross who has been with us for far too long! Away from the rescue he walks very well on the lead. Honei is a 6 year old female Jack Russell cross Corgi who was signed over to the rescue through no fault of her own. She came in with Sindie a red/brown cross breed. They have lived together their whole lives so we are hoping to find a home where they can both go together as we really don't want to separate them. Information provided by their previous owners stated that they have lived with small children and are family dogs, like other dogs and are housetrained. They are not too keen on cats though. Both have been very nervous since arriving with us but we are sure this is just down to the new environment. A lovely sweet pair who will make great companions.

Jack
Lurcher, brindle & white, 6-8 years old, MALE
Jack is a very likeable placid lurcher type. He's not as young as he used to be so not so lively but still up for a bound around the field when off-lead. He may possibly harbour an interest in chasing smaller creatures but (being a stray) we can't be sure of this and he has been walked with a small (and spritely terrier) without incident. He will need a moderate amount of exercise twice daily to keep him happy. Otherwise, he will make a fine companion.

Jax#
Staffie cross, tan & brown, 3 years old approx, MALE
Origin - came to us as a stray Energy level - very high / plenty of exercise and outings needed Behaviour - affectionate / welcomes attention & fuss Other dogs - some interest on the lead / non-aggressive / not tested close-up Cats - not tested Children - no indication (being a stray) / some risk of knocking toddlers over
Jax is a larger version of a Staffie and powerful with it. His only vice seems to be a taste for the lead but he can be corrected and responds very well - quite possibly it's just being in kennels and next to a bouncy dog that winds him up. Otherwise, he seems to have a great nature about him and the key requirement will be occupying him with challenging play and giving him tonnes of exercise.

Origin - found outside a boarding kennels Energy level - high / regular exercise needed Behaviour - sweet-natured / bubbly / welcomes fuss & affection Other dogs - quite forward and inquisitive walking / not tested off-lead Cats - not tested Children - no indication (being a stray)
Judy has a fab character about her - quite lively, paying you attention, almost willing you to take her out and spend time with her. She was walked with another dog and initially Judy was eager to get to the other dog. There was no growling or barking just pulling towards. Later in the walk, they got to be closer without a problem.

Lindsey
Cross breed, brindle colour, 5-7 years old, FEMALE
Lindsey is a lovely dog who has obviously had some training before - recalls well, retrieves a toy and drops it for you, and sits for you waiting for you to throw it again. She is also very scent-orientated and will find more pleasure sometimes following a scent and so showing little interest in anything else while she tries and discovers where the scent comes from. Other dogs cause little reaction either although we have yet to try her close-up. She is a fab dog who shouldn't be here long.

Lucy is a brindle and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier who originally came to us as a stray. When she first came in she was very shy; however she has since grown in confidence. Lucy loves affection, welcomes fuss and values lots of walks. She has been mixed successfully with a group of dogs and played well although did try to be the boss from time to time. She does have a dislike for donkeys, so may have to be kept on lead around livestock. A lovely lady who may be better suited to a home with slightly older children, as she appreciates a bit of peace and quiet.

Max
Max is a 2-3 year old spaniel cross who was signed over to the rescue due to a change in his owner’s circumstances. He is very friendly and LOVES to play; he will require high exercise levels. His is only dislike is the vets which he can resent. So he does need some reassurance in this area. He has been socialised with other dogs off lead and has behaved impeccably, although he does pull rather excitedly when on lead to get to them. He has lived with young children but we would advise homing with older as he was quite timid when he first came in.

Missy
Cross breed, tri-colour, 3 years old approx, FEMALE
Missy is an attractive cross breed who is certainly full of herself. She came to us because she fell out with other dogs while being walked[1]. Whilst here at the rescue, she will of course live with other dogs and hopefully improve her social skills in the process. She is house-trained as well[1]. She shows keen interest in other dogs whilst on the lead but with encouragement does like to come for fuss. So with appropriate training and reward, she could be trained to find you more interesting than other dogs and so have less of a problem with other dogs. Missy has great potential but will need to be worked with and challenged. Exercise and stimulating play will also be important to help channel her energies constructively.
