Adam
Staffie, light brindle & white, 3-4 years old approx, MALE
Origin - came to the rescue as a stray Energy level - medium / regular play & exercise needed Behaviour - friendly / quite easy-going Other dogs - very good (see below) Cats - not tested Children - no history (being a stray)
Adam is a very likeable Staffie. He can be quite laid-back but in typical Staffie fashion can soon liven up when encouraged with fuss. He will enjoy challenging play, frequent jaunts out and about as well as the chance to run around loose. He will make a fine companion.
Adam has walked with Floyd (a Jack Russell) and Daisy (another Staffie) with no problems. He allowed a young and rather excited Daisy to jump up at him pawing him repeatedly and playfully without any reaction at all - a very tolerant guy !

Amy
Amy is a brindle Staffie. She is approximately 3-4 years old. Amy came to the rescue as a stray. She is a sweet-natured Staffie. Amy loves human contact and enjoys running around in our paddock and has a good recall. Amy would mix well with another calm dog. She is good on the lead. A lovely example of the breed.

April
Cross breed, light brindle, medium-size, 2-3 years old approx, FEMALE
Origin - came to us as a stray Energy level - high to very high / plenty of exercise & play needed Behaviour - friendly / affectionate / welcomes fuss Other dogs - friendly / non-aggressive / seems to tolerate well / not tested off-lead Cats - not tested Children - no history (being a stray) / risk of knocking over toddlers
April is a full-of-life lady who greets with plenty of enthusiasm. Although we have no history of living with children, she has met a family with children and behaved no differently toward them - simply relishing the fuss and attention she attracts from everyone. She has become very popular here such is her character and distinct appearance. Out on a walk, a volunteer reported that she was merely curious about a passing cyclist and puzzled by a wind-chime : ) With regular outings and occupation, she will make a great companion.

Bailey
Hi guys I'm Bailey. I am a lovely looking young man, however, I have been used to getting my own way, so I do need an experienced owner who can continue with my training. I have reached Level 3 in my obedience training. I love playing off the lead in an enclosed area. If I like you I will smile. I get on with other dogs. I am very sensitive if anyone grabs my collar, however, I am getting better.

Bambi
Bambi is a gorgeous pup around 8-9 weeks old and needing an extra special home to give her the important start she needs. We can't be sure what breed she is but we expect her to be medium-sized and with masses of energy to burn off as a result - potential adopters should bare this mind. Other points to consider because she's a pup are: house-training, puppies are prone to chewing and mouthing, risk of swallowing inappropriate objects and the time she can be left alone. We also advise that pups be socialised regularly so they learn doggy manners early on and how to mix. Training will also be important to help her develop into the good dog citizen she can surely be.
BAMBI IS CURRENTLY OUT ON TRIAL

Basil
Collie cross, mostly black / white on chest, 2 years old approx, MALE
Origin - brought in to us as a stray Energy level - high to very high / needs exercise and activity Behaviour - full of beans excitement / very friendly / laps up fuss Other dogs - vocal on the lead / not tested close-up Cats - not tested Children - no indication (being a stray)
Basil is a buzz of restless energy - ready to go, raring to go and wanting to be kept occupied. Exercise and training will be key to his development and happiness. Greeting people, he can be somewhat over-enthusiastic but this is because he just can't contain himself. He likes the sound of his own bark too when he's near some other dogs but again this may be because he just wants to interact and play. So, potentially a fine companion but requiring a committed owner or perhaps a family with older children willing to work and play with him - and set necessary boundaries too : )

Bella
Cross-breed, black & white colour, 5-6 years old, FEMALE
Origin - signed over Energy level - medium to high / needs regular walks & other outdoor activity Behaviour - generally friendly / some anxiety reported House-trained - YES Other dogs - inconsistent / tolerates some and not others (see below) Cats - dislikes (*) Children - advise against children until we have a better idea of her behaviour
Bella is a middle-aged lady in need of a patient and committed owner. She comes across as a reasonably laid-back dog, quite easy-going and content to go for easy and regular walks out and about. Despite appearing to be unphased by anything, previous owners' experiences suggest she can be rather strong-willed and having a dislike of vets and being bathed (*). Regarding other dogs, she has been walked here with a Jack Russell and little interest was shown by either of them in eachother.
* means advised by a previous owner

Blade
Collie x (short legged), blacks & tans, 3-4 years old, MALE
Blade is certainly a live-wire - needing plenty of exercise and stimulation to channel his energies. He may have been allowed to have his way earlier in his life and this shows in his occasional rebellious almost ignorant behaviour. With some serious training and long-term commitment, Blade has the makings of a fine companion but he does need to be challenged and kept occupied. In his favour, he laps up affection and fuss, is a very friendly chap and (as advised by his last owner) has been good with the children he has lived with. He just needs to know who to follow.

Bonnie
Staffie type, brown and white colour, 7 years+ approx, FEMALE
Origin - came to us as a stray Energy level - low to medium / needs middle-aged strolls and outings Behaviour - placid / friendly Other dogs - some interest / not tested close-up Cats - not tested Children - no history (being a stray)
Bonnie is a middle-aged gal who has plenty to say in the kennels because she just wants to be out and on a walk, going places and meeting up with the neighbours. Not as active as she once was, she still perks up when brought out - just relishing the company. She does have the odd old sore about her and also came in underweight so she'll need building up gradually to get her to a more comfy weight.

Bruno
Crossbreed, brindle & white, ~4 years old, MALE
Energy level - high / regular exercise & stimulation essential Training - minimal / needs to know boundaries & limitations House-trained - YES Behaviour - friendly / placid Other dogs - tolerant / friendly Cats - not tested Children - advise no children or 18+ only
Bruno unfortunately has come back to us recently due to displaying some unwanted behaviour towards the son & daughter of the house. This may have been due to Bruno trying to put himself above the children in the household - so he will need to know his place. He has an adventurous spirit and will try and find his way around even opening closed doors if need be : ) So he's a dog who doesn't like to get bored or he may just try and find himself something to do. Otherwise, a very likeable guy and popular with staff and volunteers.

Cassie
English Bull Terrier, tan & white colour, 5-6 years, FEMALE
Origin - signed over to the rescue due to moving Energy level - medium to high / regular walks and outings needed Behaviour - friendly / welcomes fuss / excitable House-training - clean in her pen unless walked late Other dogs - very vocal towards most other dogs / ignores others - so inconsistent Cats - not tested / expect her to chase Children - no history / no indication given from last owner
Cassie is a rather tough lady, likes to play hard and doesn't relinquish toys too willingly at the moment. But she's also very likeable, good to walk on the lead and can be very house-proud - provided she's walked of course. Being literally a hard-nosed gal, Cassie has plenty to say to other dogs - and if she ever runs into you, you'll know about it with that boulder of a head of hers.

Dan
Dan is a very likeable chunky male Staffie. Solidly built, Dan is around 18 months old. Some of the time, he is a tad wary of people and may not appreciate people getting too friendly too soon. So he needs some time and space to adjust and we don't think he'd take kindly to young children getting excited around him. Spending time with him, you can see he has a very playful and bubbly side and relishes a fuss. He also tolerates the other dogs here very well.

Elvis#
Staffie, black & white, 2-4 years old, MALE
Elvis is a whirlwind of a dog. The challenge for anyone taking him on will be to burn off the tanker of energy he has. He loves fuss from people but he's a tough cookie who needs an occupation or his attention can be quickly diverted. With other dogs, he's sometimes indifferent and sometimes very vocal so it's difficult to know how he would react close-up. He has obviously been encouraged or played with in a way that has left him now wanting to grab at things with great determination. Elvis has a special kind of appeal whose main priority for any owner will be to keep him from getting bored and to keep his strong character in check.

George+
George is a male Border Collie and around 4 years old. He's typical of the breed in that he craves something to occupy and stimulate him - and plenty of exercise too - otherwise he may get a tad frustrated. One of his hobbies is to fetch footballs or tennis balls and drop them about 10ft away from you to throw again - waiting or lying down focused entirely on you and the ball. He'll even bring them a bit closer until you take the hint. An intelligent and affectionate dog.

Gizzie is a male three and a half year old English bull terrier cross who has been with us for some time. Jax#
Staffie cross, tan & brown, 3 years old approx, MALE
Origin - came to us as a stray Energy level - very high / plenty of exercise and outings needed Behaviour - affectionate / welcomes attention & fuss Other dogs - some interest on the lead / non-aggressive / not tested close-up Cats - not tested Children - no indication (being a stray) / some risk of knocking toddlers over
Jax is a larger version of a Staffie and powerful with it. His only vice seems to be a taste for the lead but he can be corrected and responds very well - quite possibly it's just being in kennels and next to a bouncy dog that winds him up. Otherwise, he seems to have a great nature about him and the key requirement will be occupying him with challenging play and giving him tonnes of exercise.

Origin - found outside a boarding kennels Energy level - high / regular exercise needed Behaviour - sweet-natured / bubbly / welcomes fuss & affection Other dogs - quite forward and inquisitive walking / not tested off-lead Cats - not tested Children - no indication (being a stray)
Judy has a fab character about her - quite lively, paying you attention, almost willing you to take her out and spend time with her. She was walked with another dog and initially Judy was eager to get to the other dog. There was no growling or barking just pulling towards. Later in the walk, they got to be closer without a problem.

Cross breed, brindle colour, 5-7 years old, FEMALE
Lindsey is a lovely dog who has obviously had some training before - recalls well, retrieves a toy and drops it for you, and sits for you waiting for you to throw it again. She is also very scent-orientated and will find more pleasure sometimes following a scent and so showing little interest in anything else while she tries and discovers where the scent comes from. Lizzie /Lyn
Hi I'm Lizzie, I'm a beautiful girl, full of fun. I love racing round the field and playing with other dogs. I have had a few little problems, on Christmas Eve I was rushed to the vets as I was fitting, I stayed there fora few days, then went to a foster home for Christmas as I was very ill. But now I'm back at the rescue and have made a great recovery, unfortunately I'm still on medication but hopefully I will be coming off this soon as the vets say I'm getting better. But I really need a home of my own as I just want to be loved.

Origin - came to the rescue as a stray Energy level - low to medium / regular outings needed Behaviour - calm or excited / some timidness / friendly Other dogs - no aggression on lead / not tested close-up Cats - not tested Children - no history (being a stray)
Louis is a more mature chap - if he could, he'd probably tell some interesting stories. He's brindle with some white on his chest and a greying muzzle to give away his extra years. This does not detract at all from his appeal. Less excitable than other staffies, he would settle well into a home.

Lucy is a Staffie in need of time and attention to give her some confidence back and bring her out of her shell. Impressions are she would make a fab companion for the right owner in the right environment - she just needs encouragement and the time to get to know people. She is not great with livestock type animals but we have had her in the paddock with 6 other Staffies and she played very well! but she can try and rule the others. Why not come and say hi ?

Max
Spaniel cross, mainly white / black speckles, 2-3 years old, MALE
Origin - signed over due to change in circumstances Energy level - high, regular walks and play needed Behaviour - some nervousness towards new people / can be friendly Other dog - not tested up close / pulls towards wanting to play on walk Cats - not tested Children - has lived with children
Max is a spaniel cross. He has the potential to be very friendly and loves to play, although he can be quite nervous of new people. This initial wary behaviour towards some unknown faces or in unfamiliar surroundings suggests he lacks confidence - a typical example being a visit to the vets which he may resent. So he does need some reassurance in this area. He will also need lots of exercise to stop him from getting bored. We have not tested him upclose with any other dogs here at the rescue, but on walks he will pull excitedly towards other dogs. We will test this further during his time in the rescue.

Pluto is a lively young character who will probably end up a medium-sized dog when he's finished growing. Being a pup, he will need plenty of exercise and training before bad habits set in. He will need socialising too with other dogs to help him develop into a good dog citizen. On our paddock here, he bounds around with enthusiasm and shows no hesitation going over the A-frame.
