Archie
My name is Archie. I am a doberman x rottweiller. My previous owners were unable to keep me as i was kept in the back garden and the neighbours complained about my barking and jumping up. I am a very nice dog with lots of youthful energy and enthusiasm and I need a lot of exercise to keep me happy. I am a friendly dog once i know you and a fun dog who walks well on the lead and I am keen to please. I'm an intelligent dog who needs stimulation and attention to keep my brain active. I am affectionate and enjoy human company especially when I am playing fetch in the paddock. I have been a little unsure of the other dogs here at the Rescue I have not been able to mix with another dog. I will make a great companion for the person who can respect my needs and provide me with a bit of TLC.

Barry
Rottweiler, black & tan, 4-5 years old, MALE
Origin - came to us as a stray Energy level - high to very high / frequent exercise needed Behaviour - friendly / affectionate / boisterous Training - sits / waits for food / good on the lead Other dogs - aggressive / excitable / unpredictable Cats - not tested Children - no indication
Barry is a very impressive Rottweiler. He loves to bound around our paddock here. Recall is very good. He laps up fuss & chest-rubbing attention : ) He gets bored so he needs to be kept stimulated. He likes to run for a ball or stick or bar though not necessarily to bring them back. His only vice seems to be his behaviour around other dogs becoming highly excited and sometimes vocal with it - and a highly excited, bouncing around Rotty is a challenge for any handler. So anyone attracted to Barry would have to be aware of this issue and be willing to put in some behaviour-fixing time with him. Otherwise, he is such a likeable chap.

Barry is not available to rehome at the moment due to working with our behaviourist

Ben-Bounce
Lurcher x, Black & White,4- 5 years old, Male
Origin - signed over Energy level - medium to high / regular walks needed Behaviour - friendly / welcomes a fuss Other dogs - not tested Cats - not tested Children - advise against small children due to bouncing, has been around children aged 8 & 16 years old with previous owner.
Ben/ Bouncer is a large lurcher x who loves to bounce around and loves going for a long walk. His only vice apparently is an intolerance of small dogs, which we will test further while at the rescue.

Bobby
Rottweiler cross, black & tan, 1 year old approx, MALE
Origin - found tied up outside a police station Energy level - high to very high / exercise so important for this guy Behaviour - excitable / very friendly / eager to go Other dogs - rather good (has walked with several other dogs here) Cats - not yet tried Children - no history (being a stray) / may knock small people over
Bobby is a fantastic dog. Full of friendly beans and with stunning good looks, he has turned out to be very popular with staff here. Being a young dog, Bobby will benefit greatly from further training both to keep his alert mind occupied and to keep him in check too.

Branwen
Dalmation, white / black markings, 3 years old, FEMALE
Origin - signed over / change in owner circumstances Energy level - high / frequent walks and outings essential Behaviour - Needs a careful owner Other dogs - Dislikes Cats - Ignores Children - Not to home with children
Branwen was returned to the rescue due to unpredictable behaviour in the home. She has lived with a teenager, but we would advise not to be re-homed with children. We are looking for an experienced owner with knowledge of this breed. With the correct handling/training and excercise, Branwen will make a great addition to the right person. Buster
Boxer / american bulldog, mainly white / brindle on face, MALE
At 30kg and with a boulder of a head, Buster is quite impressive. He seems to love people and the easy attention they bestow on him. On the lead, he can be good but also pull especially when he sights other dogs - at which points he resorts to excited barking. The barking isn't particularly aggressive so worth trying to mix him if he needed but a firm hand is a must. He does sit when asked and someone said he can lie down and give a paw but this may depend on his mood : )

Clyde
Bullmastiff, tan or sandy colour, 5-6 years old, MALE
Origin - came to us as a stray Energy level - high to very high / needs plenty of out-time Behaviour - very friendly / strong on the lead / giant tough guy Other dogs - barks at and pulls towards but not always / not tested close-up Cats - very alert towards so may wish to chase Children - no history / risk of knocking over toddlers (him being so big n all)
Meet Clyde. He's a large full-of-life Bullmastiff. He bounds around our field like the lord of the manor. In his aloof way, he doesn't seem to crave fuss as much as other dogs do but is very observant and inquisitive. He loves to play and pounce on thrown or kicked balls but gets bored so you'd probably have to work a bit harder to keep his interest. He's also very clean in his pen. He's been here before and weighed around 40kg. Back then, he was claimed by his owner and now here he is back with us unwanted but nevertheless as outgoing and seemingly confident as can be. He's lost some weight so we're trying to build him up. Even so, Clyde's still all muscle and can be very strong on the lead and more-so when cats are around or he's passing cows in fields so you'll have to be willing to work with him in that department. He's hugely likeable but he'll need a big-dog lover - someone who has experience of these breeds to help them cope with his big character.

Coco
Coco is a gorgeous-looking 5-6 month old Mastiff type who unfortunately came back to us recently because she didn't like being left alone : ( She is already an impressive lady and will benefit greatly from continued training - particularly on the lead - to ensure her large size does not become a large problem for any future owners. She has easily won hearts here at the rescue and mixes very well with other dogs; we would advise this socialising is also carried on again to aid her development towards being a happy balanced dog. She will perhaps appeal more to those already with experience of large breeds or even to those attracted to large dogs but who have done appropriate research into having a big dog as part of their family - Coco could end up being between 30 and 50kg in size.

Goldie/Davinia
Goldie is a German shepard cross with possibly a Lab. She has previously lived with another dog however she is not very friendly with most that she meets so a home on her own would be better, She has just had a lump removed from her back that was of no concern but she will be better for it. Due to her age we are looking for a home with good walks but not to much as her back hips are struggling on long walks but this could also be due to her weight as she is slighly over her best. She will make a lovely companion with many more years left she just needs a loving home.

Hayley
Hayley is a young very attractive cross. She looks like she could have shepherd or great dane in her but being a stray we can't be sure. She was a shy lady when she came in and may perhaps be the same with unfamiliar faces - more pronounced by being in a kennel environment. In time, however, we have seen her really come out of her shell and has started to show more of a playful and affectionate side to her character. Size-wise, she is quite big now and may have more growing to do. Otherwise, she has the makings of a great companion for those fond of big loveable dogs.

Kelly
Kelly is quite a nervous female German Shepherd cross who will need some time to adjust. She can be a little unsettled in first-time encounters but has improved since arriving here. She is middle-aged - around 7 years is our estimate. She will probably appreciate a fairly quiet home and without children too. Otherwise, a fairly placid lady who will enjoy regular easy walks.

Max 2
Max is about 4-5 years old (we think) rottweiller. He is a handsome affectionate boy. Max isnt suited to the first time dog owner, he needs someone who can devote time and attention to him. He will need a high level of exercise and training but with this in place he will make a fantastic loyal dog. We feel a home without children would better suit Max due to his lively energy and occasional mouthing.

Mick
Greyhound-lurcher type, black colour, 4-6 years old, MALE
Here is Mick. He plods along next to you when walking, laid back and relaxed. Let him off and he wants to chase and grab a toy and toss it around in sort of a mad, crazy way - made up to be loose probably. He came to us as a stray and could do with putting some weight on; his coat maybe needs some tlc too. Being a Greyhound type, he may just have an instinct to chase other small animals if that's what he's been used for before but we can't be sure. He will make a great companion.

Teddy-Nero+
Chow Chow cross, tan or sandy colour, 3-4 years old, MALE
Teddy-Nero is blessed with two names - one from the original owner (Teddy) and one from the staff here at the rescue (Nero). He is at present a very shy fellow who comes across initially as hesitant and wary of new faces and unfamiliar surroundings. So he will accordingly be looking for a very patient and understanding owner-family who will be in a position to spend plenty of re-assuring time with him and not leave him alone for any lengthy periods of time. His likes include other dogs and older children but a dislike of cats. He is a bit of a stunner to look at too and will make a great companion.

Tiger
Tiger is a stunning crossbreed. He has taken some time to settle into kennel life, being very nervous on first arrival. Tiger has now found his feet and his playful, puppy-like character is enough to charm anyone. Due to his young age, Tiger will need an active owner who is willing to input a high level of exercise, mental stimulation and socialization in order to keep him calm and happy. Tiger needs a home without young children. He has the potential to mix/live with another dog of similar temprament.
Tiger is truly a fantastic dog, he just needs that special owner who will meet his needs and help him reach his full potential.

Zuke+
Akita, brindle/grey/white variation, 7 years old ~, MALE
Origin - signed over due to moving Energy level - medium to high / placid but frequent exercise needed Behaviour - calm & aloof Other dogs - unpredictable / some aggression Cats - expect to chase Children - okay with (advised by last owner)
Zuke unfortunately had to be signed over to us due his owner moving and not being able to have dogs at his new address. Typical of the breed, Zuke is placid, calm and aloof and instantly appealing to anyone who meets him. Ideally, he will be taken on next by someone with experience of Akita-types. His only vice apparently is an intolerance of other dogs and other small animals; he will (if he stays long enough), probably be introduced to other dogs during his time here at the rescue. A fabulous dog waiting for his next fab owner : )
