Dog Walking

Become a volunteer dog walker

Volunteering at NCAR from 1st October 2011

Due to the number of volunteers who want to walk dogs at NCAR, for Health and safety reasons we have had to implement the following procedure which will be fully explained in reception when you come and visit us.
All volunteers must in future:-
1.       Complete our new registration form and produce ID on their first visit.
2.       Agree to attend a short induction presentation
We regret that we can no longer allow children under 12 years to accompany adults walking dogs.
Children aged 12 – 16 years can accompany an adult, but we must stress that the adult must be the one that walks the dog (we can provide a 2nd lead if the child would also like to hold the dog)
Any existing volunteers need to attend an induction 10 min presentation + dvd within a month from 1st October.
We must stress that this is purely for your own safety and our insurance purposes.
We look forward to seeing you soon and volunteering for NCAR
Dog walking is a great way to help NCAR out, as we have over 100 dogs at the rescue centre at one time - you can imagine how much dog walking is needed.

The dogs love it when they get to go out for long walks with our volunteers, as they get to walk new routes in the countryside, sniff out all the nice smells and sometimes even get to go to the pub for a quick drink of H2O.

Large Groups

We often get large groups from different businesses (Bank of America, Bank of Scotland, Pet at Home often come along), who get a few hours each month from their company  to volunteer, many choose NCAR as they love to go out for a good old walk.
Please make sure you call to arrange a date for your group to visit. Tel: 01745 560546

Families & Friends

We also get families & friends at the weekend and during the week, who want to volunteer as they love to spoil the dogs with treats and country walks.
Please note that children under the age of 12 years will not be able to volunteer at NCAr due to new helath and safety regulations

Individuals

Often we get individuals coming to volunteer, who may just want a bit of one - to - one time with a K9 companion.

Schools & Colleges

Another area of volunteering - is for groups from schools and colleges to visit, we try to do organised walks for these groups, so if your school or college may be interested please contact Nicky on 01745 560546 to arrange a date.

If you want to become a volunteer dog walker please vist the rescue and fill out a volunteer registration form and attend an iduction presentation
.
We look forward to welcoming you to volunteering at NCAR
